- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★Uisage Bahn Falls, Gaelic for “white water”, is located 14.5 kilometres (9 miles) north of Baddeck. There are seemingly many variations in the spelling of the waterfall's name: Easach, Uisage or Uisge; Ban, Bàn or Bahn. The official name seems to actually be Easach Ban. This provincial park trail is well maintained and has interpretive signs and a map at the trail head. There are picnic tables in the grassy clearing at the parking area for day-use. Pit toilets too. The Falls Trail is approximately 3.0 kilometres (1.8 miles) in length and requires about one hour to complete. The trail passes through a field then follows Falls Brook upstream through a mixed forest and then a hardwood forest. The deep stream valley narrows dramatically in the vicinity of Uisage Bahn Falls, a 16 metre (50 foot) high waterfall. At the falls, the sheer walls of the gorge tower 150 metres (500 feet) on either side. A second trail, the River Trail, proceeds north from Falls Brook. It is about 3.0 kilometres (1.8 miles) in length (return) and requires about one hour to travel. Following along the banks of the North Branch Baddeck River, the trail winds through a climax sugar maple, yellow birch, beech forest at the foot of the river valley’s steep slope. DATES & HOURS The park is open between approximately May 20 and November 10 (The access roads are not plowed in winter). The park is closed at dusk. DIRECTIONS From highway 105, take exit 9 northwest onto Margaree Road. Follow it for ~4km, and cross the Baddeck River to Baddeck Bridge. Turn right onto Westside Baddeck Road, and travel ~6km to North Branch Road. Turn left here, and in ~3.3km the park entrance will be on your left. This is the way to get to the park from the east. It is also possible to reach the park from the west side of the Baddeck River.By Ken Heaton, December 24, 2016
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★A dramatic glimpse into the highland water cycle. Water descends the impressive falls from the boreal plateau, and the well drained soils of the steep slopes support a canopy of deciduous leaves in summer. That's how you get a shady valley to enjoy an easy walk to the perfect pondering place.By Luke Hachey, September 05, 2016
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★A lovely hike. Not too strenuous so fairly suitable for all levels of casual hiking. We first took the direct route to the Falls, but on the way back, took the River loop. Gorgeous scenery. Couldn't help thinking, every view is a postcard.By T Horn, July 19, 2016
